Job hunting is just another type of marketing only the product you are selling is yourself. Being proactive in marketing yourself will give you a much better chance at landing a great job. The key is to get interviews with the companies you want to be a part of. So how do you get more of those prized interviews with great companies? It’s easy, just ask.

What is a call to action? Chances are, you already know. Have you ever seen a commercial that includes a statement such as "and you can buy it now for $19.99?" That is a call to action. The marketer is just asking for you to buy.

How does this apply to you, the job hunter? Well, you can greatly increase your chances of landing a great interview by simply asking for one. Are you asking for interviews when you network? Are you asking in your resume, or in your cover letter? Asking for that interview is your call to action. Just like marketers use it at least two or three times in an advertisement. You should ask for an interview at least twice. A good method is to request and interview both at the beginning and end of your cover letter. Spend some time carefully going over your resume and cover letter to find appropriate places to ask for an interview.

You can have the job of your dreams. It takes work, persistence, and maybe a few clever marketing tricks, but you can land great interviews even in today’s fierce job market. Now fire up those job search engines and get those interviews.
